Sacrificing Animals on Eid-ul-Adha

Muslims worldwide sacrifice a goat, sheep, cow, or camel every year during Eid al-Adha to remember how Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) was willing to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) after God told him to do so in a dream. God stopped Ibrahim from doing this and gave him a lamb to sacrifice instead. On Eid al-Adha, people do Qurbani, which is the Arabic word for sacrifice, to remember this act of obedience to Allah. All the Muslims should obey the orders of Allah like Hazrat Ibrahim did, also get acknowleged the rules of Qurbani by the Quran teacher.

Muslim custom says that should give at least one-third of the meat from the animal to poor or weak people. The rest of the meat is given to the family who made the Qurbani and their neighbors. Muslims in the West often give money to charities that perform the sacrifice in places like Somalia, Bangladesh, and Syria on their behalf.

“That they may see benefits for themselves and say the name of Allah on known days over what He has given them of [sacrificial] animals,” is written in the Quran. So eat them and give them to the poor and miserable”. This is good for you.” So when they are lined up, say Allah’s name over them. When they are dead and lying on their sides, eat from them and feed the poor and the beggar. So, we put you through them so that you would be thankful.”

Muslims believe that the Quran is the last message from God that is still around today.

Islamic teaching says that the Qurbani should come from an animal but that the animal’s flesh and blood do not get to God. Nothing in any “shape” can be given to Allah as a gift. Rather, the act is a way to show that you are religious. The important thing about Qurbani is what it is used for. Still, the act of sacrifice itself is a way to figure out what the goal was. On the other hand, if we think that just having the right thoughts is enough, we could eliminate all acts of worship. In Islam, this is not the case.

How does it help other people?

Around the world, the difference between people’s incomes keeps getting bigger, and food insecurity and malnutrition continue to be big problems. Looking at the food and nutrition data from all over the world is enough to see how big of a problem this is.

Because of this, there will always be enough people who need the meat from the animal sacrificed on Eid al-Adha. In fact, in the years I’ve done this show in developing countries, we’ve never had enough meat. Many poor people in places like Nigeria or India always look forward to this yearly tradition so they can have a feast at home. But there never seems to be enough meat for everyone.

Choices to Make

Giving to charity is one of the five pillars of Islam, which are the most important parts of the faith. Zakah, a required charity, and sadaqah, a voluntary charity, are the two types of voluntary acts (voluntary). All of these things depend on piety and intent, but it doesn’t seem like a good idea to put them all together or switch one for the other.

In Islam, Qurbani is not a must-do, which is true. Some Muslims think it is wajib, which means everyone can do it. Others think it is sunna muakkada, which everyone should do (recommended). So, if someone chooses not to sacrifice an animal on Eid al-Adha, it is a personal choice, and they are free to act according to their wealth, which is their interpretation of the scriptures.

For Muslims, the most important thing about worship is how it is done. Allah doesn’t like it when someone does an act of worship to show off. The most important thing about worship is that it is done with the right heart.
